Come Home to Cogswell Hall

OUR MISSION

To provide quality affordable
housing and supportive services
for adults of limited income facing
critical life challenges who may
otherwise be homeless.

OUR PAST

Cogswell Hall was built in 1913 as
a family-like home for “friendless girls”
by Mrs. Helen Cogswell. Helen Cogswell
led this “Open Door” mission with the
goal of training young girls just released from the Cleveland Workhouse to
become productive citizens. Since its founding, Cogswell Hall has historically served women and girls: orphans and youth, working women, seniors, and women living with disabilities.

THE PRESENT

Today Cogswell Hall offers a family-
like home for adults with extremely
low income with disabling conditions.
Cogswell Hall is the area’s premier supportive housing single room
occupancy residence

A GREENER FUTURE

With our new addition and renovation
of our historic home, we are working
to bridge the past and the future by continuing to carry out our mission of service in an innovative “Green Environment.” Cogswell Hall’s building project has been LEED Certified — Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design
.
